Guildhall Winchester is a magnificent Victorian building situated in the heart of Winchester.

Owned by Winchester City Council, we are one of the largest, most flexible and prestigious event spaces in the district. We have 11 venue spaces suitable for meetings & conferences, exhibitions, entertainment, weddings, civic/mayoral events, and banqueting. In 2017, we welcomed over 90,000 people across a range of events. We operate a café on the ground floor of the building – Eighteen71, and deliver a range of catering to customers who hire our facilities.

We require a friendly, passionate and hard-working Venue & Events Assistant who will work alongside three other assistants to support our Duty Managers in providing a seamless service for Guildhall customers.

This role will include welcoming guests on their arrival, ensuring rooms are prepared for our many varied events, supporting our catering and bar services for events, and generally working with our Duty Managers on the safety of our four storey building. You will also report and provide information on any matters relating to servicing, maintenance and repairs, undertaking tasks / repairs as required.

The Guildhall requires staff that thrive on working as part of a team, but who are equally able to work independently to get jobs done on time. Prioritising front of house tasks play a big part in this role.

This job is hands-on, and can be physically demanding at times, but involves face to face interaction with members of the Council and public alike and hospitality based customer service is at the forefront of everything we do.

It would suit an individual who is either currently working or would like to work in a multi-purpose venue with an exciting range of events, but is not afraid of hard work, lifting and shifting, and generally pulling together as a team to ensure our building operates smoothly.

Due to the nature of the business – flexibility is essential. Shift patterns are arranged on a rotation basis and your rota will involve daytimes, weekends and evening work.
