We are seeking an energetic and skilled Pest Control Supervisor to work in our busy and friendly team.


The Pest Control Supervisor will work as part of the Council’s Pest Control Team providing a service across the District. This will entail responding to requests for the eradication of rodents, as well as treating infestations of insects or dealing with other types of pests. Customers could range from one off treatments to long term contracts, and includes residential, business and internal council departments. There will also be basic building work such as installing bird proofing or CCTV surveys/installing one way flaps in drains. The post holder will also undertake supervisory duties such as the ordering of materials, inventory management, the procurement/management of pest control contracts, and the basic supervision of fellow pest control officers.

 

The post-holder will be expected to deliver a range of skills and attributes to deliver a professional service and will need to have experience and qualifications in the use of poisonous materials and pesticides. Communication skills are essential to provide clear advice, to clearly explain safety with regards to the use of poisons, and to reassure potentially upset customers. You will be expected to keep up to date with industry standards/legislation, and you must be flexible in your approach to work and be prepared to undertake training from time to time. You must be willing to undertake other duties in the field of environmental health/general maintenance, or occasionally help the wider maintenance team when required. The council will provide a works vehicle which can be based at the depot, or can be taken home, and in that circumstance travelling to and from your first/last job will be in your own time.
