We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced planner to take on the role of Principal Planning Project Officer in the Development Management Team.

You will be required to deal with Major Planning applications and enquiries from major residential schemes, through to a range of uses in the towns, countryside and historic areas of the District. You will be expected to have strong negotiation skills and excel at collaborating with internal and external officers. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills in all respects to allow for: targeted negotiations with developers and agents; concise and precise report writing and building strong relationships with agents and members. You will be expected to provide clear, concise and value added pre-application advice to guide applicants through the planning process. Therefore we will expect the successful candidate to demonstrate a highly professional and disciplined approach to managing case work and an ability to work at the highest level, delivering targets with a strong customer care focus

This role offers an opportunity to work closely with the Strategic Planning Team working on the formation and implementation of the allocated sites within the Local Plan including the Major and Strategic Development Areas. Membership of the RTPI and a full clean driving licence is essential.

The Council works in partnership with the South Downs National Park, and the successful candidate may be expected to work across both Winchester’s District and the National Park.
