Creating Safer Neighbourhoods, Tackling Environment Crime

Winchester City Council is currently in the process of recruiting a member of staff to cover maternity leave within the Neighbourhood Services Team.

Constantly striving to improve the neighborhoods across our district, you will
be a key member of the team, helping us to tackle environmental issues and take responsibility for being a first point of contact for local community concerns and houses of multiple occupancy. Important functions of the role will be to provide a visible presence within local communities, building up partnership relationships, supporting internal and external partners to reduce low level crime & disorder, helping to identify improvements to housing estate management, taking a proactive approach when working with local neighbourhood forums.

Although this is a temporary post, it will provide an excellent opportunity to develop your career in this unique area of local government.

Proven neighbourhood management skills and knowledge of the legislation linked to Community Safety Partnerships will be essential. You will also be adept at building relationships and have the confidence to pursue, through the criminal courts as required, those who you have been identified as perpetrators of ASB or environmental crime.

A genuine passion for improving neighborhoods and an understanding of the relevant legislation and practices around crime, disorder and community engagement will also be highly valued.

You must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post.

Closing Date - 14th August 2018
Interview Date - 22nd August 2018

This post is subject to a Disclosure & Barring check and where candidates have lived or worked abroad, overseas police clearances will also be required.
